The Science of Small Steps

We have changed our focus to you, our amazing dreamer who wishes to overcome adversities and be rewarded for your efforts. We are with you on this journey and want to help you achieve your dreams.

“Every day, make a post.”

Five days ago, I saw an interview with Odumodu Blvck, one of the new reigning artists of Afro beats.

He sat down steely-eyed with his black shades on and looked at the camera, saying these words:

“In the morning, by 7:00 am, people pick up their phones before they pick up the Bible to pray to God. That subconscious effect that when they wake up, they see you. They don’t even need to press like. They’ve seen it.”

He concludes: “Show them wetin you fit do. You have nothing to lose.”

Apart from the certain audacity of his words, the vital thing to note is the continuous taking of action.

But not just taking great action, taking simple, repeatable action.

Consistency compounds.

The compound effect is a principle that suggests that small repeated actions or changes over time lead to significant and exponential results.

You don’t experience drastic changes by pursuing drastic actions. You experience drastic changes by implementing small changes and maintaining those changes over a period of time.

Take exercise, for example. It is a process of tearing and healing.

You use weights that strain your body, discomforting it in small ways, and when you calm down and wait for another day, your body heals itself and grows.

Now, what happens when you use too much weight?

Your body becomes over-pressured, and it can cause injury that may even last a lifetime. So you know, halfway through your workout, that those small weights will work better for your ginger and your progress.

You can’t change a destiny overnight, but you can change its direction.

You cannot change where you are but can change where you’re headed.

With small tasks which are manageable for your mental state. Which are heading you towards your finish line. You pick the pace of the tortoise who outsmarts the hare.

You do not sleep at a corner of the tracks to take a little nap, but you keep putting one small leg in front of the other till you cross the finish line.

The most crucial notion to consider is the present moment.

Eternity is the present moment.

When you do small things like they are big things, you upload a stack of habits that make you do big things like they are small things.

My friend, I implore you today. What small step will you be taking?
